Hyatt Expected to Double Number of Hotels in Africa by 2020

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts today announced that Hyatt expects to double the number of Hyatt hotels in Africa, with six new hotels expected to open by 2020. The developments are expected to see the Hyatt brand enter four new countries on the African continent and are expected to create approximately 2,100 new jobs once open.

The brand, created in 1984 by Al Yegenah and made famous by Seinfeld in 1995, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on June 13, 2017, as a result of overbearing legacy liabilities and corporate governance issues.
